Abstract:This work makes a multidisciplinary analysis of the potential of market-based mechanisms in the provision of forest carbon services based on local demand in the context of climate change mitigation. The analysis contrasts, from the perspective of an emerging economy (Mexico), the possibilities of local markets versus the global markets mechanisms being developed under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
