| Abstract: | Computing, or informatics as we call it in Europe, covers many areas. In this paper we will discuss an important difference between two of these areas: software engineering and information systems. Epistemology, the study of the question: "What grounds can we justifiably have for believing the truth of assertions about reality?", is complex in informatics. This question has different answers, depending on the area we investigate. Curricula in informatics do not discuss this difference explicitly. In our opinion, they should. |
