| Abstract: | A mandrel peel set-up is developed to assess the peel fracture toughness of fibre reinforced thermoplastic tapes welded on a woven laminate using a laser-assisted tape placement robot. A comprehensive experimental programme was designed to investigate the influence of nip point temperature and placement velocity on weld strength. The results indicated that the weld strength improves with increasing temperature and placement velocity. Moreover, the applicability of the method is demonstrated. |
