| Abstract: | In this thesis several aspects of the membrane distillation process and the thermally driven pervaporation process have been described. Both processes differ essentially from each other as far as their mechanism of separation and their applicability is concerned. From a practical point of view, however, there seems to be hardly any difference between the two processes. The only difference in the experimental set-up of the process is the presence of a permselective layer in the thermally driven pervaporation process. |
