Abstract:Closed form analytical expressions and normalized charts rigorously provide the conditions for maximum geometric wavelength dispersion in three-layer slab waveguides. The resulting optimization procedure is illustrated by the design of a dispersive channel waveguide for use in a novel SiON-technology based integrated optical wavelength sensor.
