Abstract:	Utilizing lifetime quenching of the Er3+ lower laser level by energy transfer to a Pr3+ co-dopant, 1.7 W output power and 17% slope efficiency are demonstrated from a double-clad diode-pumped 2.7-µm Er3+,Pr3+:ZBLAN fiber laser.
