Abstract:	The conditions leading to optimum conductivity of the Bi2O3---Ln2O3 system were investigated. The highest conductivity was found for Ln = Er or Tm. Ordering in the oxygen lattice was investigated using neutron diffraction. Correlations were found between the neutron diffraction data and the conductivity.
