| Abstract: | Catalytic gasification of dry biomass and of wet biomass streams in hot compressed water are reviewed and discussed as potential technologies for the production of synthesis gas, hydrogen- and methane-rich gas. Next to literature data also new experimental results from our laboratory on catalytic gasification of pyrolysis oil and catalytic gasification of model components in hot compressed water are presented. The paper focuses on the present status of catalytic gasification of biomass, similarities and differences between dry and wet processes, and the challenges for future research and development from both catalysis and process point of view. |
