| Abstract: | After an 80.9 % plane-strain deformation of Ag crystals with an initial orientation of (110)[001] and (110)[112] both orientations proved to be stable. The spread in orientation was no more than about 10° from the initial orientation. The new orientations resulting from the recrystallization process can reasonably be explained by a continuous array of twins. Both with X-ray techniques and by means of electron microscopy orientations within 5° of those of twins up to the fourth order have been observed. None of these twins possessed a 30–40° orientation relationship around a common 111 axis with the deformed matrix. |
