Abstract:A first step towards the analysis of the appearance of 3 dimensional textures is presented in this paper. It is assumed that the scale of the texture is small relative to the resolution of the camera. Therefore, the texture itself is not distinguishable.However, the perceived brightness of the texture will depend on the angle of the incident light and the viewing angle. The relation between these angles and the observed brightness for different types of textures is investigated in this paper.
