Abstract:	This special issue of Solid-State Electronics is dedicated to topics discussed during the 37th European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC) held in Munich in September 2007. It comprises seven plenary and invited papers written by eminent experts as well as 23 full-length contributed papers especially selected from a large number of ESSDERC’07 manuscripts.
