Abstract:The coupling between a vibrating structure and the surrounding compressible fluid was established by modification of an existing DIANA element. Calculations and experiments were carried out for air in a closed box with a flexible coverplate. The influence of the cavity depth on the eigenfrequencies and mode shapes of the plate was investigated. Calculations and experiments show good agreemenent. For small depths however viscous effects have to be taken into account.
