| Abstract: | Science is expected to solve a variety of human and societal problems, ranging from climate forecasting, ground purification, crop protection, cancer treatment, and flood control—to name a few. Solving such problems requires reliable knowledge relevant to the particular problem at hand. However, science by itself does not provide off-theshelf solutions, and the epistemological bridge between scientific knowledge on the one hand and applications of such knowledge to real-world problems on the other hand is still under construction. |
