| Abstract: | Pressure curves obtained in isolated rabbit hearts after the end of externally imposed constant flow pulses were divided by isovolumic pressure curves at the same volume. An exponential decay to a constant level, generally lower than one, was observed. The time constant equaled that found for switching-on of the flow pulse. The results indicate that flow deactivation can be described as a decrease of ventricular elastance. |
