| Abstract: | Organizational implementation of new technology brings about design challenges as issues of requirements and evolving requirements emerge. For groupware
systems, issues are much more problematic as processes surrounding the performance of collaborative work are dynamic, unpredictable, hard to capture and difficult to specify in advance. Requirements for groupware systems are best appreciated by securing a real world reference for its actual use in the context of implementation. Addressing these design issues therefore recessitates an evolutionary approach. To systematically carry out this approach, we draw insights from sociotechnical systems design regarding system implementation processes, to contextualize as well as rationalize the role of requirements engineering (RE) in scaffolding the organizational implementation of groupware. |
