| Abstract: | Water-soluble cavitand receptors have been obtained by the introduction of ionizable groups (5, 21-28, 39) and neutral hydrophilic tetraethylene glycol based dendritic wedges (19, 20). The synthesis of these cavitands and a study of their water solubilities and binding properties toward neutral organic guests (toluene, phenol, p-cresol) in water are described. |
