| Abstract: | It is concluded that the OSP offers a new and alternative method for manipulating and modifying data in the optical domain. Under certain circumstances during signal processing, a number of signal properties such as wavelength and modulation format can be preserved. Interesting
applications can be found in wavelength routed networks in which the OSP can be applied as a wavelength independent access mechanism. Additional experimental research is needed to decide whether these advantages counterbalance the disadvantages of this access mechanism. |
